Canopy Bar, Pietro Ristorante Italiano, Dessert Bowl

Canopy bar is located at Bishan Park. It's one of the places where I would visit for brunch or high tea. It's also a peaceful neighbourhood dining area for those lucky residents who live nearby.

The interior is pretty small. I liked their warm lightings, soft music and the general cozy feel.

The exterior is surrounded by greenery.

I was there at 3pm ++ (tea break time for me!) so they were serving the brunch menu (till 5pm).

Eggs royale - soft poached eggs on english muffins with smoked salmon, salad and hollandaise sauce, $13. Slightly buttery. Anything with salmon would taste good to me. I wished they were more generous with the salmon....... the portion wouldn't be filling at all if you're famished. 8.5/10. I don't mind eating it again!

Boy & I then left for our dinner at Pietro Ristorante Italiano @ 12 Jalan Kelulut (off Yio Chu Kang Road). I'm impressed by the chim and classy name; I'm impressed by the food; and I'm impressed by the chef.

There're so many chim words in the menu + no pictures so I took some time to "gei kiang" and try to decipher and imagine the meanings. Sua ku me. :P

I was attracted by the "Limited Portions" so I decided to order something from Chef's Special and something signature from the menu. It's like trying the best of both worlds, haha!

There're photographs and artistic paintings on the walls too.

The Chef's Special baby pork ribs, $24. I don't know why but it gave me a strong grandmotherly feel when I tasted it. The whole dish just felt very homely and motherly, like it's being prepared after many years of cultivation. The ribs were soft, the wedges were normal and the sauce was good. I rate the overall combination 8/10!

Now guess what's inside the sweet wrapper?

It's a signature seafood linguine, recommended by one of the cute staff who served us. Piping hot and loaded with seafood! 8.5/10! Tasty; we gobbled it up quickly.

Let me end this post with this colourful wall! Oh yes, I was impressed by the friendly fatherly chef. Know why? We were the first customers for the night and were warmly greeted by him at the door; He asked whether we ordered food already after we settled down for a while; He even waved us goodbye when we left! It felt like we know one another. So friendly please! I'll be back!

We ended our night @ dessert bowl @ serangoon. I'll post about that tomorrow! :)

House & The Marmalade Pantry

House @ 8D Dempsey Road. Been wanting to try the high tea but I came on the wrong day, time and feel so it's a very short touch and go post.



Nevertheless, it's spacious and a seemingly okay place to chill. However, it was too noisy for me so I didn't like it. Plus, I wasn't feeling too good so the mood was just wrong for me. Way too noisy!!!!!!!!



Truffle fries for $7. One word - expensive. I thought it's some heavenly snack but no... they were pretty normal like mac's fries. No doubt it had this weird taste like wasabi or what in it that I can't describe, but the overall feel was just like any other normal fries after eating much of it. In my opinion, I regretted ordering the fries big time.



Tau sa pau for $2.50. Still on the expensive side but it's one of the cheapest items in the menu already. Extremely soft, hot and fluffy so it's a good bite. Good to try if you like paus.

Overall, I've not much comments cos I only tried two snacks but I doubt I'll return cos I got really turned off by the noisy environment.

Next up - The Marmalade Pantry, located beside the popular Riders Cafe.



I've always loved the peace and the greenery here, and indeed it made me felt calm for a while.



I'm so thankful for the peace here, seriously. Yeah I like quiet dining places.



The lightings and feel was calm and slightly romantic.



Mushroom risotto. Kinda like cheesy sticky rice with many mushrooms in it. Mushrooms, cheese and rice lovers would probably like this simple dish. But sadly, like I mentioned I wasn't feeling all too good and so I didn't eat a lot of it despite it's $22.

Seriously, sick cat me. I hope I recover soon.

Red Star Restaurant, Charly T's, Strictly Pancakes, Fullhouse.

Daily: 7am–3pm, 6pm–11pm

The staff will push a trolley of dim sum around the restaurant. If you like any, they'll place it on your table and you'll get a "chop" for the dim sum. So cute!

We love the scallop rice roll! It's hot and slippery. MUST TRY.

Siew mai - very unlike normal market dim sum ones, I like.
Ha kau - the skin's too thick, I don't like.
Shark's fins dumplings - quite normal meaty.

One of the coldest and best-est durian pancakes! MUST TRY. 5/5. I like durian puffs too! The egg tarts were a bit sweet for me.

Overall red star dim sum experience: 9/10! We spent around $35 for 2. For a cheaper deal, there's one at forum seafood - $8.80 dim sum set lunch.

Stopped by Charly T's (Nomu Building) @ 20 Handy Road, Level 1 for their homemade ice cream sandwich (made with CT's cookies), one of their chef's recommendations. I love chewing the raisins in the cookies! Very chewy. The cookie itself and the vanilla ice cream tasted normal, so my overall happiness level was 3.5/5.

We had Strictly Pancakes @ 44A Prinsep Street for our very late lunch. (cos I spent too much time decorating the neoprints we had earlier =P)

4.5/5! Thick and soft pancakes. I always choose the garlic and herbs dressing cos I find that it goes so well with the pancakes. Maybe I was so famished that it seemed tastier than the pancakes @ riders cafe.

We also made a trip to Rochor Original Beancurd @ 2 Short Street. I didn't like it anymore! Now the only beancurd I want is lao ban.

Oh yes! Finally my new hello kitty iphone 4s clothes arrived in my hands today :D

And my hint hint bouquet of hello kitty for our 1.5 years of sweet sweet love. :) LOVE IT TTM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's an addition to my hello kitty family~

Forum Seafood and Tea Cosy

Forum Seafood @ 42 Boat Quay. (Nearby raffles place mrt!)

We took the outdoor seats for the view. Relaxing! A down point was that the weather was a bit warm but still bearable.

They offer valuable dim sum lunch so we decided to give it a go.

I was pretty satisfied (8.5/10) with all the food. Classic, traditional, chinese, family, homely! I give special credits to the soft steamed rice, stir-fried baby kailan's sauce and the steamed forum fresh prawns. The fried ones tasted good but they were too oily for me. The beancurd was a bit salty and I didn't like the thai mango salad because I can't taste the mango. I've no idea what soup I had. It's slightly salty but very nice! Very grandma and homely kind of soup.

Next up - Tea Cosy @ 68 Orchard Road, #05-10 Plaza Singapura. (Dhoby Ghaut mrt!)

One of my top choices for high tea if I were around town area. Decently affordable considering that it's in town and offers a peaceful and beautiful place.

It's my first time feeling "Woah I'm really enjoying my high tea like a tai tai!" thanks to the way they present their high tea set. It's just irresistable! Desserts were not too sweet and not too much. Suits me so well! I'm easily enticed by pretty and mini snacks, even especially more attracted by the correct ambience. Tea cosy, kudos! You've satisfied my high tea urge very well. I shall hunt for more high tea places! UPz (9/10).

The Garden Slug @ 55 Lorong L Telok Kurau, #01-59/61 Bright Centre.

The garden slug menu! Reasonable pricing, NO service charge. It gave me a very casual and lazy lunch out.

Hot Chocolate, $4.50 - thick chocolate feel, not overly sweet and meltz with the foam! Must try.
Ice Latte, $6.50 - quite normal so I thought it's a little bit expensive...

After calling our bill, the receipt came back to us on a "Keep Calm and Carry On" plate. Cute!

Juicy shrimp and roast pumpkin pasta, $14.90. A rich pink sauce of tender baked pumpkin, shrimp and whole oven-toasted garlic cloves. MUST TRY. Super unique, super big plate and super tasty. 5/5. *Kudos*
Hansel's Meatball Pasta (beef+pork) in Spicy Arrabbiata, $15.90. Good spices and lots of delicious meatballs! 4.5/5.

Home Club @ 20 Upper Circular Road, #B1-01/06 The Riverwalk. I appreciated the aircon and darkness so much because the sun was too hot and bright today.

TCC @ 51 Circular Road. I love this outlet's beanie seats. Most apt for high tea and chilling out on this hot day.

Good effort made to display the colourful food! Cute, attention seeking and appetising. $13.90++ for the high tea set (For sweet tooth), and $10++ for the 6 mini mushroom thingy (Fragrant, crispy, nice!)

I loved this sparkling apple juice and the bottle. So classic.

The sliced spicy italian saussage (pork saussage) was a bit spicy and not too salty; The bite me focaccia bread pizza was very hot, crispy and cheesy; The fish and chips was so soft and fresh and went well with the fat fries; The cocaine wings were still as awesome, spicy yet sweet, just the way I tasted before.

Fat die me today! Actually no, I'm still skinny no matter how I eat =)
